Anastasia's Story
St. Anastasia was born to a noble pagan but was baptized and secretly raised as a Christian by her mother. Widowed at a young age, she gave her wealth to the poor. Anastasia visited the imprisoned during the persecutions of Diocletian. She fed them, tended to their illnesses and wounds, and ransomed them. Eventually, Anastasia was caught and imprisoned. Diocletian tried starving Anastasia, but she miraculously survived for sixty days without food. He tried to drown her in a hole infested boat only for her to miraculously sail away. When Dioclecian captured her again, Anastasia was burned at the stake. She is the patron saint of weavers, widows, and martyrs.
